7 Steps to a Successful Sale

    Get Your House Market Ready

Declutter – decluttering is one of the most important things to do when preparing your property for sale on the open market. It’s also the first step for you in moving-on be it to another property or another chapter in your life. Undertaking the clearing out process now will also make it feel far less stressful.

Refresh/Repaint – when the decluttering is complete you will probably notice some areas of your home need to be touched up with paint. High traffic areas such as hallways and doorways which get a lot of wear and tear may require freshening up to make the space look as best as it can. It’s best to use neutral paints and pallets with shades in white tones.

DIY – Replace old fixtures and fittings that may need attention such as door handles, hinges, light fittings, or curtain rails that may have been overlooked.

Spruce up your décor– Introducing a neutral pallet will make a potential purchaser visualise themselves living in the space. Introduce white towels and bed linen to create a feeling of luxury and simplicity. Ensure as much natural light as possible is coming into your home/property creating the illusion of brightness and space. Ensure blinds and curtains are open and pulled back. In rooms and areas where light is restricted introduce an extra lamp or lighting.

Spring clean – Kitchens and bathrooms are the main areas potential purchasers will notice. Light fittings, lamp shades, door handles and windowsills should all be dusted down.

Exterior appeal – Give your outside windows and doors some TLC, ensure the lawn is cut and weeding is done, remove any broken or disused garden furniture, BBQs or bicycles.
